Holistic Model

Social and Emotional Health

Each student's emotional health will be evaluated on a continuous basis by all staff to provide comprehensive support for OPTIONS students' social and emotional needs. Individual counseling is available, and students are encouraged to access this resource. Students also participate in weekly social-strategies groups in which they have opportunities to share information and reflect on insights from peers. Students are assisted in developing strategies and facilitating coping mechanisms for everyday situations and life changes. By addressing our students' social and emotional needs, they are more available to benefit from our various levels of instructional programming.

Medical Managment

The goal of the medical management component is to provide students with quality health care, focusing on prevention and supporting students in taking responsibility for their own health and well-being.  Registered nurses are responsible for providing primary nursing care to students, monitoring medication distribution, and arranging doctor's appointments.  Medications are prepared and labeled in weekly organizers.  This preparation is done by nursing staff.  All medication doses are logged in medication books which are also prepared by nurses.  Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, the OPTIONS staff will have access to the school's recommended community physicians.
