On behalf of our team, thanks for taking the time to investigate OPTIONS at Brehm. OPTIONS (Optimizing Potential Through On-going, Nurtured Successes) is designed for post-secondary students with learning disabilities who need to further develop academic, social, employment, and independent-living skills before transitioning to their next step in life.
OPTIONS exists because of needs identified by Brehm Preparatory School students, alumni, parents, and staff. As a result, the OPTIONS team and Program are founded on the same philosophies and models as the Brehm Program. While the goals for each student vary, the overall focus of OPTIONS is to move each student toward successful adulthood.
OPTIONS at Brehm truly does offer options. Our Independent Living program provides instruction and support across the many areas and activities encountered daily. OPTIONS students can follow an instructional course toward Certificates of Completion in one of seven employment areas, or, they can opt to prepare for and participate in a community college curriculum. Empowering students to optimize their potential in a variety of life areas is at the heart of the instruction and support provided through the OPTIONS Program. Navigating the transition to adulthood is difficult; navigating the transition to adulthood while dealing with issues involving a learning disability can be daunting. There's a good chance we can help.
The OPTIONS team is dedicated, compassionate and well-qualified. So often, when students or parents come to us, they feel alone and voice great concern about the transitions facing them. As you learn more about OPTIONS, you'll see that you're not alone. You'll recognize that difficult transitions are possible, and that you do, indeed, have options. We might be just the place to help you realize them. Seeking more information about OPTIONS could be the first step.
Sincerely,
Char F. Reed
